Production Control Coordinator

Position Summary
The Production Control Coordinator works closely with the Master Scheduler creating an environment in which the use of effective scheduling logic simultaneously produces realistic master schedules and customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for monitoring/maintaining accuracy and integrity of MPS input information (forecasts, order reconciliation). Provide the communication focal point for information (status, changes, and issues) about the MPS. Formulate planning and scheduling guidelines for use across all manufacturing teams. Determine key indicators for the planning/scheduling process and develop associated measurements. Identify process improvement opportunities and facilitate lean activities.

Organizational Overview
This position is in Northstar’s Manufacturing Department, and reports to the Master Scheduler. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for production schedules in department/departments assigned
  • Ensure production schedule goals are met
  • Document and communicate schedule adherence issues
  • Work with Shop Floor Supervisors to ensure production schedule priorities are accurate and being followed
  • Adjust production schedules to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Maintain personnel relations consistent with applicable collective bargaining agreements
  • Initiate Lean/Continuous Improvement activities in line with Northstar’s business goals and objectives
  • Exercise discretion in directing assigned department to reduce waste and improve overall effectiveness
  • Enforce all quality standards and adherence to QMS elements
  • Recommend process and safety improvements in line with important company-wide goals and objectives
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and risk-free production environment
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety rules and departmental housekeeping standards

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of close tolerance manufacturing applications
  • Demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility
  • Ability to work with all levels of workers in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and 6-Sigma defect analysis
  • Experience with AS400 or Infor CSI / Syteline

Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.)
  • Regularly required to sit; stand; walk; reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, or feel parts
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision

Work Environment

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
