SUMMARY OF POSITION
This position is responsible for fitting and assembling of complex aerospace sheet metal hardware in preparation for weld to product specifications.
This position is in Northstar’s Manufacturing Department, and reports to the Production Supervisor. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary, but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below. This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time.
- Fit and assemble complex aerospace sheet metal hardware in preparation for weld to product specifications
- Shear, form, roll, bend, and straighten sheet metal hardware
- Set up breaks, punch presses, expanders and other such metal working equipment
- Responsible for trimming, hand finishing, assembling, cleaning, punching, and pressure testing aerospace hardware
- Assist Hydroform operator by oiling, cleaning, de-burr, circle shear, and anneal parts
- Check and straighten sheet metal parts
- Shop 5S per established Schedule and additional 5S activities as required
- Assist with lean implementation across building
- Other duties as required
This position will not direct the work of any other employees.

- Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing and seeing
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds
- Frequent reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, twisting, bending and repetitive motion
- Occasional sitting, writing and typing
- Visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of product and/or parts
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
- Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise
- The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc..
- Education Required: High school or equivalent experience
- Experience Required: 5 years’ experience with sheet metal, preferably in aerospace environment

- Able to read manufacturing operations and tooling planning Sheets
- Able to read blueprints and have some experience with GD&T
- Proficient computer skills
- Precise and organized
- Detail-oriented
- Must be dependable, professional, flexible, have a positive attitude and a solid work history
- Prior weld experience is a plus
- This person is required to have the necessary tools to perform the job
- Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Understand Shop 5S per established Schedule and additional 5S activities as required
