 SUMMARY OF POSITION

 

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of the quality inspection and calibrations system. This position is also responsible to ensure product shipped from this facility meets customer requirements.  The Quality Supervisor is in Northstar’s Quality Department, and reports to the Quality Manager. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary to facilitate quality assurance goals, and directly supervises 10 or more other employees. This is a full-time position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate resources of the department to inspect parts per customer requirements while ensuring total compliance to customer prints, PO’s and specifications
  • Schedule personnel for Final QA, Gearbox Inspection Cell, CMM and Gauge Crib (Calibration) to ensure effective and efficient parts inspection.
  • Coordinate customer service inspection for parts mandating such requirements
  • Must be competent of GD&T and able to read, interpret and execute highly complex blue prints
  • Must be able to guide inspectors on the use of tools to use for the inspection complex aerospace parts
  • Perform and/or delegate First Article Inspection Requests specific to customer specifications
  • Work closely with customers to ensure a clear understanding of requirements, provide support and maintain professional relations
  • Lead department resources to successful completion of agreed annual goals and objectives
  • Work with other departments to assure inspection priorities are defined and inspection of parts is coordinated according to priorities ( Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain.)
  • Develop continual improvement process for inspection methodologies
  • Develop functional training plan and update related procedures for inspectors/qc employees

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will direct the work of 10 or more other employees.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise
  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent experience

Experience Required: Must have minimum 5 years aerospace manufacturing experience in a quality manager role with approximately 10 years of leadership/supervisory experience

  • Highly technical in the reading, interpretation and troubleshooting of complex blue prints and inspection tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Look for ways to improve and promote quality
  • Manages competing demands
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to manage multiple prioritizes in a fast paced work
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office Excel, Word, etc.)
