The Phoenix Division of Northstar Aerospace has an exciting career opportunity in its Engineering organization. Core Responsibilities 

  • ​​​​​​​Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the engineering staff ensuring they provide the necessary technical support to manufacturing and quality to achieve division objectives.
  • Ensure that all manufacturing special processes and tooling conform to customer, organizational, and governmental standards.
  • Direct the development of new manufacturing processes and the revision of existing processes to facilitate the improved manufacturing of parts.
  • Develop, coach and mentor team of engineers to ensure the highest level of performance and standards of excellence.
  • Manages software control
  • Provide evaluation and disposition of discrepant material

Essential Skills and Experience

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • BS in Engineering
  • MS in Engineering or MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering management experience; prefer that experience in the aerospace industry
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience 
  • Familiarity with specifications, blueprints and requirements for aerospace component manufacturing that includes having knowledge of aerospace welding, coatings, heat treatment, machining and sheet metal fabrications
  • Documented formal process improvement experience; Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Knowledge of CNC turning and milling
  • Experience managing maintenance in a TPM/Preventative Maintenance environment
  • Works well with people; good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests as well as a background check.
  • Manages by way of participative leadership. Recognizes his/her emotions and that of his/her team and develops actions to motivate, inspire and direct in a more effective manner.
