SUMMARY OF POSITION 

This position is responsible for the assembly of precision aerospace components. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below.  This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time.

 
  • Temperature differential installation of bearing liners into large magnesium housings.
  • Install of thread inserts, threaded studs & lock rings.
  • Rivet installation.
  • Precision hand drilling.
  • Paint/Primer application.
 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not direct the work of any other employees.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing and seeing
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, twisting, bending and repetitive motion
  • Occasional sitting, writing and typing
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of product and/or parts
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise
  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED                                           

  • Education Required:  High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • Experience Required: 1 year in aerospace assembly environment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Blueprint reading and High attention to detail.
  • Measurement skills, including use of calipers and micrometers.
  • Safe use and management of various chemicals, liquids, and epoxies.
  • Ability to maintain precision tolerances and perform in-process inspection.
