SUMMARY OF POSITION 

Lead and support the Quality Management System, AS9100 revision D, internal audit program and corrective action system.  This position will also be responsible for identifying risks and gaps in the Quality Management System as well as analyzing data from internal and external findings.

The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary, but does not directly or indirectly supervise any other employees.  This position is responsible for exercising discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance at Northstar.  This position reports to the Quality Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below.  This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time.

  • Develop, maintain, and support the Quality Management System, AS9100 rev. D and evaluate the effectiveness
  • Drive and monitor Audits of the company according to the Audit Program and QMS Procedure. Generate an annual internal audit plan consisting of system, process and product audits.
  • Follow up on planning of each audit, including: notification of auditees, analysis, recommendation and submittal for approval of the Audit Plan, ensure that Audit Plan has been dispatched to auditees, providing assistance to auditors during the steps of preparation, ensure completion of the audit.  Receive and file the signed audit reports
  • Manage and monitor nonconformities with respect to the QMS Procedure ensuring that nonconformities are correctly entered in the log, sections are fulfilled and relevant persons are notified
  • Follow through on verification of the responsiveness of process owners on corrective actions
  • Make sure quality incidents are recorded ensuring investigations are conducted and root causes are identified
  • Use the results of audits to identify opportunities for improvement for all QMS processes monitoring and promoting opportunities for improvement
  • Coordinate External Audits including: PRI NADCAP, AS9100 Registrar, Customer and Government
  • Knowledgeable and capable of interpreting and implementing systems and procedures for ITAR/EAR compliance

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not direct the work of any other employees.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, writing and typing
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds
  • Occasional reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, twisting and bending
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
  • Occasional exposure to moderate noise
  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED                                 

Education Required:  Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Business or related field is preferred

Experience Required:  AS9100C or Rev. D Certified Lead Auditor.  5 -10 years’ experience as auditor and responsibility with Quality Systems Management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

  • Must be fluent in interpreting quality systems specifications, standards for aerospace and military applications
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Overall computer proficiency with many software programs (ERP Database, MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OnBase)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to various levels within the organization as well as to external customers and vendors
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must have proficient understanding of AS9100D Quality Standard
