CNC MILL MACHINIST

 

2nd Shift Availbility is required 

SUMMARY OF POSITION

 

This position is responsible for operating a CNC Mill  Machine in an aerospace machining environment.   This position is in Northstar’s Manufacturing Department, and reports to the Production Supervisor.  The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform precision machining operations on aerospace hardware
  • Provides technical oversight and assist with all setup activities on CNC Mill equipment
  • Helps schedule resources in areas to ensure daily work is achieved
  • Maintain highly efficient work process using Lean principles to support cost reduction activity
  • Responsible for operating various CNC machines and equipment

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

This position will not direct the work of any other employees.

  • Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing and seeing
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, twisting, bending and repetitive motion
  • Occasional sitting, writing and typing
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of product and/or parts
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise
  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent experience

 

Experience Required: 5 years’ experience with CNC Mill aerospace machining

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Attention to detail
  • Interface with MRP systems
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and 6-Sigma defect analysis
  • Ability to work with all levels of workers in a team-oriented environment
