SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position is responsible for set-up and operation of Horizontal and 5-Axis mill machines. This position performs a pivotal role in building high Quality and reliability into our machined components for fixed and rotary-wing aircraft.

This position is in Northstar’s Manufacturing Department, and reports to the Production Supervisor. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary, but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time position.

Accountability:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below. This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time.

  • Set-up and run Horizontal and 5-Axis mills to machine complex rotor craft housings.
  • Produce High Quality at the Source. Coordinates effort with data from CMM reports.
  • Prove out new CNC programs during New Product Introduction.
  • Team with Engineering to develop class leading manufacturing processes.
  • Implement New Technologies for our machining processes and work-holding solutions.
  • Knowledge of materials and cutting conditions.
  • Participates in daily GEMBA and Kaizen events.
  • Adheres to required safety and housekeeping standards and practices

Essential Skills and Experience:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Ten (10) years of CNC milling experience within the Aerospace/Military Industry.
  • Insight into the value of Lean Manufacturing with respect to Product Velocity and elimination of waste.
  • Expert knowledge of Blue print reading and GD&T required.
  • Knowledge of Mazatrol and Okuma controls and previous experience running FMS is helpful.
  • Able to work in a challenging and schedule driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to pass off/coordinate progress with tangent shifts.
  • Must be professional with a positive attitude and a solid work history.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment and random drug screen.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
