SUMMARY OF POSITION 

The Program Manager acts as the primary customer interface for assigned programs while interfacing with performing departments and senior management to ensure program, technical, schedule and cost objectives are met. Additional responsibilities include identifying business opportunities to expand the scope of currently assigned contracts as well as to assist in the development of new and follow-up business with current customers.  This individual must be able to lead a team, as may be assigned, and build consensus within a matrix management environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the work of a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring all customer requirements are satisfied throughout all phases of the project
  • Acts as the principal point of contact with the customer and ensures effective day to day communications and relations are maintained
  • Responsible for all project deliverables, including customer satisfaction, quality to specification, technical achievement, schedule adherence and project/product cost targets/budgets
  • Ensures compliance with all aspects of the project specification and that tasks/work packages are undertaken in accordance with company policies and procedures; i.e.: project scope management
  • Recognizes the need for effective internal communications and ensures appropriate project visibility, using best practice disciplines and procedures to identify risk, track schedules adherence, manage hazards, maintain project files, using visual metric/management
  • Provide oversight of supply chain management and manufacturing support to ensure customer requirements are achieved
  • Support business development, as required, for: sales and marketing activities, customer presentations, specification development, contract negotiation, project planning and product costing

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED                                  

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline with proven experience in program management
  • 5 -10 years’ manufacturing and aerospace experience.  Proven experience in program management
  • DoD Level III Program Manager certification or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent leadership and communications skills throughout all organizational aspects
  • Resilient and able to drive projects effectively against demanding targets in a complex, multi-disciplined environment
  • Comfortable operating in the midst of sophisticated technical activity, while retaining sharp focus on business outcomes
  • Excellent decisions maker, problem solver
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to brief senior level management both internally and externally
  • Knowledge and understanding of customer support requirements, maintenance concepts, capabilities, strategies
  • Ability to identify future growth opportunities and mitigates risk by direct interface with customers
  • Responsible for overall compliance, cost and schedules
  • Develops and maintains relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Interface with other departments
