SUMMARY OF POSITION 

 The Production Control Manager is responsible for the cost effective and timely performance of duties in the areas of material control, shipping & receiving, tool stores, finished part stores, and raw material stores.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below.  This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time.

  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and risk-free production environment
  • Ensure all parts are packed and identified in accordance with customer requirements and delivery dates meet the dates committed to the customer
  • Ensure all items covered by purchase orders are received as described on the P.O. and in quantities as specified on the P.O.
  • Identify traceability on all materials received for production
  • Provide a secure storage area for the location and cataloging of customer owned and company owned tools, fixtures and gauges
  • Abide by ITAR requirements
  • Establish and maintain a secure and readily available inventory of consumable tools and supplies for shop use
  • Provide a secure, organized area for the storage of manufactured parts, and purchased finished parts awaiting assembly into higher assemblies, or shipment to customers
  • Kit and document manufactured parts and purchased finished parts issued to higher level assembly work order
  • Maintain traceability of all parts stored and/or issued to work orders
  • Provide a secure, organized area for the storage of all raw materials used in the production of finished parts, including bar stock, forgings and castings
  • Issue raw materials to production work orders as required
  • Identify and maintain traceability of issued material
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety rules and departmental housekeeping standards
  • Responsible for production schedules in department/departments assigned
  • Ensure production and CPI goals are met
  • Supervise and direct employees in adherence to Employee Standards of Conduct
  • Maintain personnel relations consistent with applicable collective bargaining agreements

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

The qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills required and/or preferred for this position are listed below.  This list is not all inclusive and may be amended by Northstar, from time to time.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Materials preferred
  • Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years’ production/inventory control/supply chain experience in a medium to heavy (job shop) manufacturing environm
  • Thorough knowledge of all manufacturing processes in a MIL-Spec environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and 6-Sigma defect analysis
  • Supervise and direct employees in adherence with Employee Standards of Conduct and Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Ensure production and CPI goals are achieved.
  • Strong ERP (preferably CSI) and Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to various levels within the organization as well as to external customers and vendors
  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skillsStrong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in self-directed and team environment
  • Strong work ethic
