SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position is responsible for inspecting complex parts using visual aid and inspection tools. This position is in Northstar’s Manufacturing Department, and reports to the Production Supervisor. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time position.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for welding activities, abiding by established policies, plans, methods, procedures, deadlines, and priorities
  • Interpret weld specifications and customer requirements
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position will not direct the work of any other employees.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing and seeing
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, twisting, bending and repetitive motion
  • Occasional sitting, writing and typing
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of product and/or parts
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise
  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent experience. Must be certified to AWS D17.1.
  • Experience Required: 5 years’ recent experience in welding of complex sheet metal aerospace fabricated hardware

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Must be professional, punctual and reliable
  • Must be able to read and write
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Understand Shop 5S per established Schedule and additional 5S activities as required
