SUMMARY OF POSITION 

This position is responsible for ensuring the safe processing of products that meet customer and Northstar quality requirements in accordance with time standards for her/his assigned area of production.

This position is in Northstar’s Manufacturing Department, and reports to the Manager, Operations.  The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary and directs the work of 3 plus employees. This is a full-time position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure safe and continually improving work area
  • Maintain a positive work environment for employees
  • Ensure paint are trained and training is documented
  • Cross train employees to provide a flexible workforce inside and outside area of responsibility
  • Assure compliance of Northstar processing to customer and industry specifications & standards
  • Utilize quality systems for continual improvement of product quality
  • Knowledge of time standards for processing steps in assigned area
  • Improvement of steps/equipment to reduce time requirements and improve product quality
  • Maintaining time standards to reflect improved processing
  • Provide required information to the organization to support EH&S, Sales, Quality, SCM & HR
  • Maintain accurate employee time records and accurate inventory counts
  • Complete projects as assigned as time allows after primary responsibilities are met

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will direct the work of multiple Northstar employees, but does not directly supervise any.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, writing and typing
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds
  • Occasional reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, feeling, twisting, bending and repetitive motion
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise
  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED                                                                                              

Education Required:  High school diploma or equivalent experience.  Bachelor’s degree in engineering is a plus

Experience Required: 5 year’s aerospace painting experience plus supervisory experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED
