SUMMARY OF POSITION 

The Expeditor will act as a liaison between production planning and manufacturing line personnel to ensure material requirements are met. This role is responsible for the coordination of sales order and work orders at the different steps/departments. Ensures shop floor documentation is accurate and transacted into the MRP system in a timely manner. Statuses production completions and brings floor issues to the attention of operations system and supervisors in a timely manner.

This position is in Northstar’s Production Department, and reports to the Master Scheduler.  The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time position. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure daily production plans are met.
  • Prioritizes and sequences queued items for each work center based on predetermined production schedules.
  • Status shop floor completions to production management and production planning personnel.
  • Investigates and resolves work order or inventory related issues working with appropriate functional personnel.
  • Participates and/or prepares data for production meetings within operations.
  • Works with other personnel in cross-functional process improvement teams.
  • Updates key metrics as necessary, keeps track, coordinates and expedites part shortages with other departments.
  • Transacts operations completion on Work Orders.
  • Closes Work Orders and researches shortages to avoid material variances.
  • Locate and move WIP on the shop floor.
  • Audit work centers for jobs and paperwork.
  • Inventory the OK Corral and QC clinic so we can better manage the date realignment activities.
  • Research open operations.
  • Place Inventory pulls to the jobs on the floor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not direct the work of any other employees.

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
  • Occasional exposure to moderate noise
  • The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to work well with others in a challenging environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED                                

Education Required: High school diploma/GED

Experience Required:

  • Experience in a highly regulated industry, especially aerospace.
  • Basic understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Previous experience working on a production shop floor.
